Kurt Donald Cobain born February 20, 1967in Aberdeen, Washington, was an American guitarist, songwriter and lead singer of grunge band Nirvana.
Nirvana broke through in 1991 with the album Nevermind, thanks to the song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" which became one of the best-selling singles of all time. The album sold 10 million copies in the U.S. alone. Nirvana has now sold over 60 million records worldwide.

He got his first electric guitar when he was 16 years old as he was chosen in front of a bicycle. Cobain had a rather unhappy childhood, when he had very poor relationships with both his mother and father. Partly this was because he felt contempt for them when they were divorced and he wanted so badly to have a traditional family as everyone else.
After the album Nevermind, Cobain began to feel chased by fans and felt that they expected too much from him. Stress aggravated an stomach problems he had since he was little, and Cobain began taking various drugs to relieve pain, including heroin
8 April 1994, Cobain was found dead at the family villa cause of death was a rifle shot in the head with too high a dose of heroin. The police and doctors consider it suicide, although this has various conspiracy theories concerning the murder circulated among other things, that there was insufficient evidence to suggest suicide. The autopsy showed that Cobain had died three days before he was found, the 5 April 1994. He was 27 years old. In his resignation letter he quoted a line from Neil Young's song - "It's better to burn out than to fade away".
